About Massimo Acquaviva

Massimo Acquaviva, 2R Capital Investment Management Limited co-founder and co-CEO, has joint responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the business and all investment decisions. 2R Capital Investment Management Limited is an independent asset management firm focused on alternative and long-only investment strategies in Europe. The company’s goal is to preserve its investors’ capital, seek maximum compound investment returns and conduct its business with the very highest levels of integrity.

Prior to this he served as the director in the Investment Banking division at Credit Suisse, where he was responsible for the origination and structuring of distressed and principal finance transactions in the Italian market. His main areas of focus included mezzanine financing, tax receivables and illiquid assets.

As the vice president of Fixed Income and Derivatives at Credit Suisse from 2003 to 2005, Massimo originated and structured finance transactions with Italian public sector and corporate clients. During his time in post, he acquired Credit Suisse’s first portfolio of health care receivables in Italy along with the company’s first portfolio of loans to Italian small and medium-sized pharmaceutical companies. Massimo also originated Credit Suisse’s first bond mandate and first liability management transaction for an Italian local authority.

Experience & Education

Other roles that Massimo has formerly held include that of associate of the CSFB Strategic Investment Fund, associate of the Structured Finance Group at GE Capital, London, and analyst in the Project Finance division of MedioCredito Centrale SpA. In the latter role he was responsible for, among other things, performing financial and credit analysis and conducting due diligence.

From 1993 to 1994, Massimo served as assistant to the European Commissioner for Research and Development, based in Brussels, Belgium. Whilst in post, he participated in negotiations relating to the entrance of Sweden, Finland and Austria into the EU.

Massimo attended Columbia Business School in New York from 1998 to 2000, graduating with an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship. During his time studying at this institution, he founded the Nova Italian MBA Association.

Hobbies & Interests

Outside of work, Massimo enjoys walking, Italian cuisine and reading non-fiction books, particularly those on the subjects of history and the human sciences. He also loves to travel and has done so extensively.

He cites his key skills as humility, tenacity and the ability to motivate a team and identify newly emerging trends.
